Seismic Data Processing

Processing of seismic data is performed in GVTz CGE taking into account all distorting factors (complex terrain relief, presence of gas cap, permafrost, velocity heterogeneities, etc.) and applying advanced procedures and methods (DMO, AVO-analysis, obtaining depth-velocity model of the subsurface, migration prior to stacking - PrSDM, etc.).

Both standard sequence and special sequence of procedures that would honor specifics of a particular oil and gas province can be used to process 2D/3D seismic data. For each project, a 2D/3D seismic data base is created that would store data starting with acquisition data through to the final processed data set.

At this phase, both proprietary and licensed software and technologies can be employed: Omega 2 (WesternGeco), PSDM (CGE) or GeoDepth (Paradigm Geophysical).

As the data processing progresses, QC checks are regularly made of the data being processed, processing parameter tests may be modified as necessary, data amounts to process may be redistributed among the processing geophysicists.

The Client’s representative’s opinion will be decisive in evaluating the intermediate data quality and in the processing parameter definition.

Based on the testing results, the final processing sequence is agreed upon and approved with the processing parameters defined.

Parameter testing results should be documented as a report containing plots, figures, charts and conclusions, while the selected parameter values should be fixed in a protocol or certificate. Every effort shall be made to secure processing continuity and processing completion within agreed turnaround time.
